Yoko Ono: 'I feel that I am starting a new life at 80' | The Japan Times

Yoko Ono: 'I feel that I am starting a new life at 80' | The Japan Times

About 20 years ago I was in New York doing a bit of art scouting
for J. Barrett Gallery in Toledo, Ohio.  I was hanging out in SoHo with
my friend and hologram artist Ruven Bary from Hungary.  He had a studio
above the Hologram Gallery on Spring Street.  He said that there was a
little reception for the release of John and Yoko's drawings at a friend's
apartment in a building on the Hudson River and we should try to get
there, since Yoko was going to be there.  By the time we arrived, almost
everyone was gone, including Yoko.  I always regret not arriving
earlier and having the opportunity to meet her, since it was just a small
intimate group of people there that day.  But just the feeling of being
in the room that she just left was uplifting, and I felt a sense of honor.
I have continued to carry that moment with me throughout the years,
and follow her accomplishments.  I thoroughly believe in all of the causes
she supports, especially the anti-fracking and gun control causes.
I hope you enjoy this article about her becoming 80 years old.
